I aquired a set of pistons, rods and cam as a job lot but they are oversize and the CR will be too high with my heads. By the looks of things 9and a bit of research) they were probably used in a alky motor, the CR they would give me would be over 14:1.

    Foxy rods tho

Si, do you mean the camper, the engine or the moggy?

    Paddy, not to worry.

The next thing for me to do is get the block on a stand (Thanks for the loan of yours Guy) and get the block all nice and clean ready for paint.
There are still a few things holding me up (Pete's making me a bench) and still waiting for a few things from the states to arrive.
There's a set of speed pro flat tops on order to get the cr upto a nice 10.3:1
There are two cams that I can choose from, an RPM performer and the one that came in the piston bundle. It's a wee bit lumpy and according to the spec, it may be a bit fluffy below 4000 rpm but above that should be mental.
There's also a tunnel ram topped with a pair of 750 holleys winging it's way over from the states too along with a Jegs gear drive.
Gonna run a dual point dizzy (ex Phunky Phantom - thanks Wayne) and then a set of headers.
Hopefully this should get me in the ball park of 500 hp and should make the Moggy a bit lively.
There's also a TH400 to go on the back from a Jag, an Ultra Bell will be fitted to mate the two. Should get some more pics up as the cleanup continues this week.

Oh, the letterbox scoop is going

Hello there, I'v been reading this thread with great interest.

I'v just bought a ford 429 thunderjet yesterday, funnily enough, with C6 trans.

I'v taken the rocker covers off, carb off (750 holley, I believe,) then the intake manifold, which reads "torker 460" on one of the runners. To my horror I notice the intake runners are MUCH smaller than the intake ports in the head. For starts the ports in the head are oval/nearly round and the ports in the manifold are rectangle....

Can you shed a little light on this??

Also, fozwanger, if you want to sell one of those tunnel rams, let me know, I'll pm you my phone number now.
