    News.
I was in a crash. Can no longer work on my car as well as before. So its been sitting for ages. Then my wife offered to treat me and pay for a few repairs to get it useable.....
Well I bought a tow frame, organised the work I needed doing, got a price for the work and was told it would be ready for Christmas just past.

    IMG_20171029_223544_083 by quickrack, on Flickr

    Worklist was.
    Get it to start.
    Set idle.
    Fit choke cable.
    Spanner check everything.
    Alignment.
Weld in anti tramp bars and brackets.
    Fit steering wheel centre cap.
Get dipped lights working and align beams.
Weld in the loose Line-Lock bracket.
    Adjust clutch.
    Fit or fix speedo cable
Test drive, report and discuss any other work needed.
Everything was supplied as and when asked for.

Got it back on the 17th of FEB cos i went and feckin got it. It was supposed to be dropped back to my house.

Came back with a cracked thermostat housing, heating disconnected, one brake caliper bolt missing and other just finger tight!
No choke, steering wheel centre not done. line lock cant be reached unless sitting forward despite specific instructions.
It started that day but wont since.
Gutted, as it was a man I trusted.....
So now I have to do it myself. All trust gone. I am slowly going through the car to be happy it wont kill me and working on the body when its not actually freezing. I hope to get it driving in time for ST Patrick's Day (17th March) and painted in time for my Vintage Club's Annual Show on June 3rd.
    Comments or abuse welcome :-)

Quickrack-Alan - It is a real shame when a garage you trust lets you down.

So I hope you are able to get the car finished the way you want.

    Good luck, Paul.

    PS
I actually passed my driving test in a Mk1 Escort Estate, which resulted in a 5 point turn, but still a pass.

My first on the road car was a Mk1 Escort Estate, but I passed my test in a Hillman Hunter.

Sad to hear of the OP's problems. Being treated that way is shameful, but generally the type of people who do that sort of thing have no shame.

Those who persevere get something or other (insert inspirational quote of choice here)
I bought an electrical tester and fiddled about for hours on and off. I found two loose connections ans fixed them.
I also found that the connector blocks that plug into the back of the fusebox work loose and need a jiggle by times.
    I got it to run

And I even took it for a drive!
The first time in over 3.5 years.

    Felt good.

Sorry to here about your bad luck. Car is stunning. I always thought a 2 door Mk1 escort was nice looking. Great colour too.
