    Bear claw latches.

Not very exciting part of build, but might be of interest to someone.

The problem with this, is that window glass is fitted right up to edges of doors, so its impossible to connect door handle directly to latch. So to get around this I made a pair of rods to transfer movement down one side of door, under area taken by glass and up the other side of door.

Started with door latch, fitted with cistern arm from DIY store, then connected 5mm thread bar.

Arm of latch extended, then also fitted with 5mm bar. (mini bear claw latches from CBS)

    homemade lower pivot fork.

Everything connected together, glass is free to move up and down between the 2 rods.

Made up plate to mount latch.

Door cut out to fit plate.

    Pin mounted on B pillar.

In situ, springs added to stop weight of handle accidentally tripping latch.

Handle angle and amount of movement required to open latch, can be set, by adjusting lock nuts on left hand thread bar

Fitted to door using original latch mounting holes.

    Internal handle works as normal.
Original connecting rod for this, pushes down on extension that was welded onto bear claw latch.

    Cheers,
    Gav.

    Roof

Have made a bit more progress over last few days.

Made header panel loosely based on original that came with sheet metal:

fitted lucas wiper system, going for twin "clap hands" setup.

Roor insert taken from Volvo 850, will need a bit of filling at rear corners due to contours not quite matching, think this is partly due to extending cab by 2 ". Hopefully won't be to noticeable when body is painted and roof covered with vinyl.

    cheers, Gav.

Also made a start on brakes, Have brought a twin master cylinder setup to sit under cowl.

Need to run a remote reservoir, but don't really want it stuck on firewall, so ive mounted it under centre of cowl and going to make a dummy cowl vent to use as an inspection hatch.

    Cheers, Gav.

    Also finished sills.
I've gone for mild 2" channel on floor, usual seems to be around 4"?. (not sure if this was such a good idea now!, but gone to far to change it)

Did this to keep as much space in cab as possible, this will leave 2" of chassis showing beneath cab, but I've planned a panel to cover this, which hopefully won't look too out of place.

    Cheers Gav.
