    Notapop.

Well it started out as a very rotten body. But Id got no cash n it was free.
So I had to take it.
Id had an idea a while back. A plan in my head. All I really needed was a rough body.
As Id plans on cutting it into pieces any way. This thing was ideal.
So....... I trundle off to Cumbria. A 4 hour drive. Trailer in tow.
On arrival, it was clear that the trailer was too small. So I could have driven 4 hours home without it. Or I could take the grinder to it n cut it in half......... Here is where the project starts. The first cut. It was getting a roof chop anyway..

So I got it home. And started to mark up cut lines.........

And out comes the hack saw n grinder.

I chopped 4" out of the roof. But only 2" out of the rear screen. Moved the roof forward and mounted it more upright, to create a cab back.

I needed a nice section to finish the top, roof corner. The boot hump corners were ideal for the job.

The front end was the worst, most rotten part of the body. All the A posts are rotted away. No hinge mounts. Just scrap.
I chopped 4" out of the screen pillars, and removed all the bulk head. Only the screen surround will be used from the original body. Ill make the rest.

After chopping the screen, I cut the screen surround in half. The whole body is being widened 12"

The last bits for today were to make the cab rear corners. and cap off the bottom of the B posts.

Next will be to add the 12" to widen the back end.
Im not picking up my doors until next week, so thats slowing me down a bit.
But I only have about 14 hours in it so far.
If its low n black n shiny n sparkley n loud n spitting fire....... It's probably mine.

It sounds a bit wierd.... But I woke up one morning with the image of this car in my head.
I saw it clearly. And needed to build it. That was a couple of months ago.

You can sort of see it a pick up cab. But Im taking out the body lines from the doors. They have a big sort of swooping line coming in from the front wing. Im cutting that out to make smooth doors like a 32?
Im also trying to get hold of another pair of door tops. I want to lose the sharp corner from the rear. And use 2 fronts instead.
Im losing all the bodywork from the screen down, on the A posts. Extending it all forward a bit like a 32 or Model A. Longer screen scuttle. But leaving the sloping front screen. That has a look of a 34 anyway.
There will be a shortened 'Willys' style roll top pick up bed.
It will have a 34 / model Y? style grille shell with no bonnet or sides.
And its gonna be running a twin wheel back axle.

The only body line Im keeping, from the Pop, is the thin one that runs front to back along the side. Below the glass.
You may notice Iv cut the line off the 1/4 panel. And welded it in place on the cab corners.
It will have all the welds ground, but left exposed. It wont be a rusty 'Rat rod' <<I hate that tag>> But it will be bare metal, D.A sander finish.
Im deliberately making it look all 'Frankenstein' patch work. Im liking the look.
And to run with the 'Frankenstein' theme. Im toying with the idea of a hint of green candy, in clear laquer as a finish.
This lot is of course open to change as I go along. Iv nothing set in stone. And anything that comes my way as a freebie of cheep, could well end up in the final car.
Its not gonna be a big dollar build. Just something to keep me busy.
If its low n black n shiny n sparkley n loud n spitting fire....... It's probably mine.

I missed this picture from the start. Its how it was when I first saw it.
Before I realised it was too big for my trailer.

It looks in better shape than it actually is.
