The Old Girl gets a Heart Transplant !!!

    Hi all,

Been lurking around for some time and not really contributed much so thought I had better share with you all my little project.

Always loved MK1's Z cars especially and was lucky enough to get this MK1 Zodiac about 15 Months ago, the car is pretty immaculate and had a Rover V8, IFS and 8" axle, really enjoyed last Summer with the but she really needed a little more UMPH, so during the winter I have been getting everything ready for the transplant, and today I can confirm that the engine is in !!!! well just.

Major issues getting the engine in place due to the IFS fitted on the car, I have read every issue of CC and Street Machine that featured MK1's and none appear to have had the problems I have encountered, But I think it looks great and will be worth the effort, hope you all agree.

My first car was a M1 Zephyr Zodiac with the same colours as yours many, many years ago - jeez that pos thing used nearly as much oil as gas! - looked good de-trimmed without front & rear bumpers

Thanks for the kind remarks, it is proving a real challenge with IFS front end, nothing seems straight forward.

Have had to make a new sump after all, the offside exhaust manifold is a bloody nightmare.

    Will keep you updated.

Looks like Le Mans is out of the question this year

    Cheers all

Ok its been a while but finally things are moving on now, the IFs setup on the car has caused major problems with this transplant, the crossmember/steering rack got in the way of just about everything, sump had to be remade, the manifolds were a complete mare, the offside is a tight as a nats chuff as you will see, in the end I had both custom made and I think they look pretty tasty, as I said it is a very tight fit but have managed to pull it off with some expert help.

Deceided to go the whole hogg and spent a fortune on remote oil filter and aeroquip hoses.

I am pretty please with the result, hope you agree.

First fire up not far away now !!!!!
