    Old Lemon Consul Capri

Some of you might remember my Capri, it is the one featured being built in Street Machine, in the late 90's.
I've had it since 2007, & other than changing the wheels, have mainly just used it as is.

I knew it had a few bodywork issues, not helped by sitting on my drive under a cover for 6 years.
Last summer, I had a garage built, & decided to take it off the road & sort it out.
I'm in no rush to finish it, gonna take my time & do it as & when.

    Before.

Think it might be a few years before I get am 'after'!

Worst part so far is the rear valance/boot floor area. Almost all filler. :****er:

    O/S A panel/door pillar.

    Double skinned. Both were rotten.

    O/S A panel.

    O/S chassis rail.

    Front panel.

    End of front panel.

Don't know why some of the pics are on their side?

Gaz, good luck with the rebuild, your certainly have your work cut out with that, but it will be worth it.

By the way, the Pinball is working perfectly !

I don't fancy that work around the screen but you look more than capable looking at the repairs so far, good work!

You need to be quick with the repairs ofr the original steel left will start to rot as well . Rust never sleeps , especially on a Consul Capri .Stuff that may have had a few pinpricks when covered with filler just keep on rusting away

I remember it well, it was around at the same time as my former car 'satans pawn'. don't get disheartened, my celica was as bad as this, if not worse, see pro street Mk1 celica post in this area, I started cutting rust out 20 years ago and finally have it painted, I am sure you will, but make sure you put epoxy primer on immediately after you have welded in the patches to stop the rust starting again, just scuff it rough with 60 or 80 grit and get it covered as soon as possible, I made the mistake of leaving some areas after I made then and they had started to surface rust within a week as you can see from the rear tubs in the pics, normal primer, either celly or 2k is porous and will let water through and the steel will rust under the primer, look forward to seeing it finished hopefully in less than 20 years like mine took
