it was always going to be stripped back as engine was to be moved along with the front suspension.
just easier/cheaper to start afresh once everything was taken off.

this has been a rod for 30 odd years and i guess most are in this sort of state.
added to over the year with whatevers to hand.

it obviously worked ok as owner states it ran straight.

did look at another pop a little while back that made this one look like a show winner.
do honestly think you can buy turd polish if youre a rodder.

stripping back has found lots of rot which i need to deal with first.bottom of A and B pillers are non excistant and trying to get the body as straight as poss befor starting chassis.

good thing about having the whole car is i have all the bits to build to

Stock Pop wheelbase is 90" but if you build it to that the rear wheels end up looking too far forward in the arches. They need setting up so the rear wheels look like they are in the right place which will stretch the wheelbase.
Likewise if you dump the front end, it can be better to move the front axle line forward to get a good 'visual' fit.

i let the owner decide the wheelbase.

set car up at ride height.
plonk wheel in arch, get owner to move around till he,s happy.

Renault did that with their cars that had long lateral torsion bar rear suspension movement I don't think much thought went into it , they just packaged it that way because they had to run the torsion bars side by side so one axle pivot point ended up closer to the front than the other staggering the rear wheelbase by quite a noticeable amount.
