been looking at what engines to use in this build,

was thinking of going lexus but i really want something a bit different so im sort of heading towards a 4 litre supercharged xjr lump. the only problem is i want to have a manual gearbox, been doing a bit of researching and it looks like a 2.7 diesel box fits. has anyone fitted one of these engine .

    A few tips.
Modern engine is ok, but you will need to keep all the emission gubbins with it to pass BIVA as it will be tested as the date of engine emmissions for ever more.
Bumpers will need a lot of re-working as the 'open' back edges will need closing off or thickening up to get the correct radius on them.
Before going too far check the availability of the glass ofr the EC43R marks - I expect you should be ok as it's a newer shape car.

yeah cheers blackpopracing, engine will remain as is and the bumpers will get totally reworked. because the car is going to be chopped up a fair bit i have come up with a plan, what im going to do is build a modern equivalent of a volkswagen fastback. so im going to change the front lights and do something with the rears to make them more modern and generally tidy up the bodywork.
chassis should not be far off being cut so im hoping for some progress in the next few weeks,

bit of good news today the chassis is almost done with just a couple of bits to sort so i am going over on wednesday night to take a peek.

still not sure about the engine, would like to go mad but i do have to put the car through BIVA so i may just go injected rover and keep it simple. with putting the same engine in the cortina it should be a fairly simple process, i hope.

    blackpopracing,
the glass is always going to be an issue. if i cant get a screen with the right markings im going to find one thats close that does have and graft that in to the shell. its a bit annoying as i have an original set of one piece door windows made buy bug pack still in the original box that i might not be able to use.
