really good day today, picked up the chassis (two chassis ). all seems as it should it,s now just a big jigzaw puzzle to put it together.

heres the plan with the chassis.

the chassis is designed to be completely universal, it is cut over size and can be cut down to suit most cars. all the cuts that have to be made to obtain a certain wheel base and chassis width are all straight cuts keeping it very simply to alter. it can be used with xj40 suspension or what ever you want to use but i do have all the necessary mounts if xj40 suspension is going to be used.

if any one wants more info just pm me.

the chassis would be ideal for custom builds, kit cars and anything inbetween.

box section arrived last week that i needed to make a new jig to build the car on, got it all cut up ready to weld together next week.

today was the day i finally got the fassty at the garage.

next week i will start taking it apart.

got to start tearing it apart today, just windows and engine tomorrow and the body can come off the chassis.

looking at what i need to cut out of the shell to make it work with how i want it and im afraid there aint going to be alot left. on the plus side it is a very solid shell so what i cut out might be able to be used in some else's project.

Just spotted this thread, looking forward to this, I followed the Corrina with interest over the years, and this looks just as interesting, do you have a time scale for this, or just done when its done?

    cheers fungus,

no time scale, as you say done when its done.

got the body off the chassis today.

left all the glass in as i thought it might help keep the shell from twisting once i start cutting.
i thought before i start cutting stuff i would mock the fassty up at ride height to see how the wheels would look.

before cutting out the rear inner section of the shell and the bulkhead with the inner wings i braced the inside with some box section and then set about it with the grinder. all came out without much hassle, now just a matter of tidying it all up.

now its all stripped i can now measure up for axle widths and get an idea of how the chassis will fit.

cheers fungus, might be a good idea once i get abit more into the project,

been looking at engine option,s, lexus, jag any how sitting in the back of the container when i emptied it out was a 3.5 rover lump that i had brought as a mock up lump when i did the cortina but never used. so googled the engine number and its out of a automatic rover sd1. engine was seized but when i pulled of the rocker covers it was really clean and no sludge .got the crank out and all the pistons now move in the bores so im going to use it for the build.

i dont know if you can just rebore the 3.5 to a 3.9 or wether you need new liners but over all the block looks really good, result

with now settled on a rover engine i am going to use a mazda rx8 gear box as the lt77 boxes are stupid money and it just makes sense to be on a more modern box. with the engine being a 72 to 76 lump the emissions wont be so bad for the iva test as im going to convert it to injection, im also going to supercharge it using the complete setup from a jag which i will adapt to the rover. the supercharger will be here next week , i cant bloody wait.

this is going to be one fun build, bring it on.

once i had mocked up the rear wheels inside the shell i was able to measure up for the rear axle width, nice even 50" wide. with the jag axle being 61" wide it means the shafts have to be shortend 5 1/2" each so got them stripped ready to go to the machine shop tomorrow.

    also this landed today.

all the rest of the parts to complete it should be here later in the week.
