I have knocked up a couple of former's out of MDF for my Pop wings (I know they are easy compared to a whole new body design) and they are a great help so I imagine your frame will be excellent for getting a nice shape body also you can stand back and check the proportions better from a distance, excellent work so far.

Hi John, going to try to make the body out of mild steel I did think about ally for weight savings but I am going to stick with steel. If I cannot work the steel then plan B will be G/F the wire buck should be good for both. I get the feeling I am going to be making a lot of templates, jigs and formers for the body work. I would have like to have seen more pictures of your pop wing build and how you broke down the wing into sections, you did an excellence job. I have to say at this moment in time the hardest bit is the design I could ask for help but then it would not be mine! Cheers Andy

Andy, a common method of "seeing" things before you make them in the metalshaping world is to find yourself an overhead projector, do a drawing of an overall shape you find appealing and then position the projector so it is in scale over your chassis. It may save you some time.
I can't believe you don't have any kind of idea of a finished shape as you have kind of painted yourself into a corner with welding that roof shape in.

Yes, good suggestion but the shape would still be a general sport car shape in 2D not 3D. The biggest problem is I cannot draw in 3D and my ideas are generated on the job if you get my drift. Mad I know but that is way the whole project has been just a one off car out of my head. Roof make no difference because it can be changed, if you take the roof angle its wrong if you think of a tear drop shape so this will have to be modified if I use the Audi rear hatch. So time is in involved but I have no deadlines just having a bit of fun in the garage. Cheers Andy
