Steel model a king cab pick up

Alright boys and girls i started collecting parts for this years ago after working out i like model a ratrods and pick ups i decided what i needed. Up until i tryed sitting in my mates model a pick up cab!! i'm 6'3 and wanted mine sat on the floor, so i came up with a plan. So after setting up a jig levelled and squared in the workshop the challenge began!!

    First cut

    Bits i didn't want!!

What i did want, oh no i've still got a crosmember to remove!!

I'm here coz it's a cool place to be

problem was the front of the rails were so bent that we couldn't line anything up from them so a bit of heat and a load of clamps later!

In goes the front crossmember and set up at the right height on the jig, all set square and made sure it's straight.

Then on to some 100x50 box and a nice kick in the chassis

Then a 12' kick at the rear of the chassis!!

on to fish plating the front chassis kick

    Then rear crossmember

The chassis looks like it's starting to take shape nicely

Very interesting , cool idea dudes , and nice start . I've only seen a couple people go the king cab route on T truck builds . I'll be following this build as well .

after cutting the back down we hung the doors on the cowl and tried to fit the rear of the body, shame when we had mocked up for measurements i han't taken into account the rear of the body isn't flat and as it sits down over the chassis i needed the kick up to be be further back!!:****er: meaning as we sat the body on it wouldn't sit down

My only saving grace is that i had put the kick up on top of the main rails. So we cut the kick up off and angled the rear of the rails so the kick up now comes off the back of the rail.
