done a load more welding and boxing of the frame, just takes so long having to stitch it then let it cool so it does put too much heat in the steel work! couldn't finish boxing because i'm not sure about a steering box so we lifted the engine and box back in and the body back on so we could tackle the gearbox crossmember and peddle box.

So i tried the peddle box for size and seams to fit quite well, it's a tci prebuilt item running a hydraulic clutch aswel. I'm not going to be running a servo as it's drums all round. Then tried to build a gearbox crossmember this was my first attempt!!

I'm here coz it's a cool place to be

Likeing the build dan, looks like you have a tube bender there could you not do a large X in tube simlar to stock chassis with a short removeable centre mount, ok junk that forgot the kicked up front rails!

mark, i was having great problems trying to make the crossmemberi couldn't go any further forward on the pasengers side as i'm next to the kick up and the peddle box and gearlinkage is in the way on the drivers side so thats how we ended up. I think i'm going to have another x member just behind the gearbox mount made of the same tube to help make it more rigid.
    cheers dan

now the basic chassis is done and i've got engine and box in place i thought i would do a bit of body work. I cut one of the b-pillars down the centre top to bottom (remember this was a four door)

once i had two pillars as such (one for each side) i cleaned up the c-pillar area and cut off the edge back so i could slide this in behind and clamp it in place

made sure the door fitted of sorts and decided to tack it in place and make a cardboard template for the big whole i had at the bottom(was rear wheel recess) before transfering that to the rear door, i did make it 10mm bigger all the way round so i could a recessed edge that would slip behind the panel and give it more strengh.

    Hey Dan,

    That's looking good.
I often wondered if the body got used. It's good to see you're building
it in the style you described when you collected it.

Keep going with it & updating this thread.

Yes i said i'd build it when i got time i just didn't relise a few years would pass first!! i've had the idea for about 5 years and a few small details have change and a few things adapted but it's still the same basic idea.

Anyway on to more welding i've plated in the kick up at the rear, then tacked a couple bits of box in and the axle to that to get it off the jig. Wanted to get it outside and give me a better idea of how it looks.

so we have an idea of how it's looking now, obviously the grille isn't in the right place but i'm pleased with the look.
