Take the seats & carpets out, buy 30 feet of 1" x 1" x 1/8" angle iron & brace it, making sure the braces clear the doors. Buy a tarpaulin and some duct tape, drape it over the roof and tape it in place so you can't see the upper rot, take a deep breath & GO!

Cheers all - and thanks Gary - thing is, the doors don't close properly now (they never have in my ownership!) so whilst you are right, I need to brace it, if I brace as it is, it'll be wrong anyway. However, you are 100% right about the glass - I probably shouldn't have taken the rear window out without more bracing.

John, I remember the back N/S door in particular was a poor fit. The problem you are faced with is that because so much has been repaired over the years that you don't know which bit is "out". Its no good making the car fit the doors if the doors are wrong etc, etc. I always like to work with known good doors and get everything to line up to them, is there anychance of you getting some better doors? Even if they're rotten, at least they will be the right shape, the body can then be put back into shape to fit those before bracing the body properly. Failing that, rebuild your doors around new skins (if they're available) to give a datum point for the sills etc. At the minute you haven't really got a good datum to start from.

Cheers Gary - I actually have a pair of doors from a '57 4dr HT - the trailing edge is different around the rear wheel arch, but they are much straighter than the ones that are on - sadly that only gets me one side, but it's better than what I have. Top advice - I know you did a later but similar car. Maybe I'll see if I can get a door from the US.
No-one makes the door skins for the 4dr HT to my knowledge.

I am wonder what anyone does with the window frame - as you can see my rear one is totally shot in places - I don't have any tools for bending or shaping (but I will buy what I need as/when I can afford it) - was wondering if there's any tricks to this - should I see if there's anything in the scrappys I could cut out and use? (thinking about it I haven't been to a scrapyard in about 10 years - all the motors are too new I bet) - Can't believe how ignorant I am :-)

John, would it be easier to build a time-machine and go back in time to when it was new with five gallons of Waxoyl?

Rather than buying a complete new body, can you buy sections of it as repair panels? Im pretty sure you can buy the repro shell unwelded.
