Roller the primer on, it's the way most bodyshop work on small repairs down here as it saves time getting it in the oven etc. I've done it on many cars now, easy to build up on areas where it may be a bit ripply as well.

1.8 or2.0 is the right size. If you are using a finishing gun - 1.4 or 1.6 tip you will never get the primer to spray properly without over thinning it.

Drat! I just bought a new gun, they said I should have 1.4, so thats what i bought. Thanks for the advice. I did manage to get a good few coats of primer on today with the new compressor.
I have enjoyed this build all the way through all the stages, but I HATE this bodywork bit!

How do I do that? Do I mix the primer and hardener together, then put it in a tray like painting the ceiling in my house then?

Yep, use wickes 4" gloss rollers and throw away after use.

You can get different tips/needles for your gun to convert it easily enough.

Thanks Blackpopracing and Kapri for the advice. Today I picked up paint rollers, snatched an hour or so in garage to do another round of filling/sanding, then went to roller some primer on and....

    Run out of hardener!
Progress feels so slow sometimes! But I keep telling myself that it is going forward.

Thank you, I needed the encouragement.
Ive been putting on primer with a roller, good way of getting plenty on without spraying, thanks Kev and Blackpopracing.
keep noticing more and more details that need sorting out. I guess thats just the prep process.
no point posting pics at the moment, after a hard days work the pic would not look much different!
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt", but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!

Been working away to get the bodywork as good as I can, door gaps far from perfect but better than a lot of the taxis as they came from factory...

    guide coats...

...and finally, PURPLE!!! even if its just the door shuts and inside bits.

I like the look of the trans tunnel, might leave it exposed in final interior. Although I think it may transmit too much heat to the inside of the truck. I can always add insulation and carpet later I suppose.

I'm pleased with the paint colour, just the skill of the sprayer which leaves a lot to be desired.
Hoping to paint outer body tomorrow.
