Oh Hemi ! of course i am putting it back in

Well , not a huge amount of progress ,but a bit of such.

I started to scrape off the gasket on the inlet flanges of the head , but rain stopped play .

So i attacked the inlet flanges on the manifold ...

nice and smooth ..bear in mind i will be making a new inlet , but this is just to see how it runs ,and what the box does .

then hunted down the longest distributor ever ...

i have a feeling whoever designed that was procreatively diminished

Next it was time to face the exhaust problem ...the cast headers were bolted with a 4 bolt flange to the downpipes ...like so ...

(this was taken after i butchered them apart ,but you get the idea)

so i think disced through the 4 bolts on each set , and then had the huge fun of drilling all the bits out ..

    first holes ..

    out to m8 ...

    and also did the pipes..

    unfortunately ,one header was cracked..

so i cleaned it up , and mr superman up the rd is going to try to arc weld it on with a cast rod.

Lastly i had a offering up of the sacrificial turbosnorter in the bay to see how it looks for room..

    oodles of space .

    regards
    robert

well , good news is ,,and ,since its my birthday i do deserve it , the flange is all welded back together

My good friend found these rods ..

And arc welded it back on, peening as he went .I then used a file and flappy wheel to face it flat again ..

Then a bit of vht paint...

All ready to bolt on , also i got the super stubborn gasket of the inlet on the head ,so both sides are ready to install.

It's all a bit slow due to the rain .

    regards
    robert

    Happy Birthday Robert!

Your friend has done an amazing repair work on the header.

Plus is was great to see your pistons moving up & down, especially given the effort you put into freeing then up in the first place.

    Good luck, Paul.

    PS
I didn't even know that an oil sommelier was a 'thing'.
