Don't know where you'd find one of them now, what with the prices they make!
Just a passer by as you might say.

There's still a few out there that are only suitable for breakers . Nowadays they save stuff I'd have weighed in . I had a spare roof 14 years back

    Monday morning , T + 20 hours .

some more pictures have become available .

The car on her new plinth (such a good word)

    helicopter shot ..

we wedged the grill on ,because ...er ... the God of car projects demanded it ,channeling through my friend Alan , the rock God of Black Bourton ...

couple of charming bucolic countryside pictures ..

thank you to Alan for taking them and sending them over so quickly .

observations are , main chassis looks pretty good , last ft or so has obviously been parked over grass ,so is a bit rusty , may have holes , rear spring hangers look solid .side rail outriggers pretty rotten , i think they unbolt . i think it would mot as is.

various lower edges of inner wings and panels frayed with rust .

boot floor has been cut out to replace , boot lid edge poorly ...badge intact !

centre door pillars , solid , wood sections in roof like new .doors perforated on bottom face , but solid above that and fit and open and close really well .

dashboard shot but enough there to make a pattern .

its a rolls royce 4 speed auto ,with a fluid flywheel. these are apparently A) quite strong ,and B) more fuel eff than a trq converter , since they basically lock up at higher rpm .

diff is a 4:1 , so too low for the auto 1:1 4th , so i need a higher dif somehow.

engine has the plugs out and something gleaming on the piston tops , the plugs are in the leads laid in the head plug tubes , so i hope that liquid is an oil to preserve it .

today i will pull out all the stuff inside and lay it out on the grass to see what i have and do not have ...should be fun .

    Regards
    robert

Always thought this was one of the prettiest car shapes of it's era (late 50's)

Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Wouldn't take much to turn the Armstrong into one of these........

my first thought when i saw it on it's 'plinth' was you're only one tree away from a perimiter wall arrangement there. one side has a row of three trees forming that side wall and the other has just the one at the front. so just a corner post at the back that side and you could build off of the trees to make a carport or even a garage there. just like a ground level treehouse (carhouse).
    neil.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

That's got a lovely flow down the side, if it were me I'd weld the doors up and cut the front door on the swage line to give you a short but stylish opening, like some of the early sports cars.
Just a passer by as you might say.
