this is the complete build thread of Brandon vinings 3rd tot rod so he has got a record of it which will be cool to look back at as he gets older ,
he has been lucky that I built his first one when he was 5 to the point he grew out of it so it was sold on for a new one which then got him in to run what you brung at shakey and loved every minute of it .
anyway he has now grown out of the second one so build 3 will hopefully last him till the real thing starts !!!!!!
number 2 is now sold so the money from that has gone towards buying this little lot http://imagehosting.rodsnsods.co.uk/...32e85aea45.jpg
it works out cheaper to buy a go kart as buying all the bits needed can get quite expensive , so we bought this go kart and the first thing he did was test drive it to so how well it went .
we measured out a long bit of off road land where the 1/8 mile is and then taped my phone to the steering wheel after downloading a GPS speedo app.
the first flat out run did 27mph so we took it home and removed the governor then tried again which gained to 30mph .
for the looks we needed bigger wheels and tyres which would also help with gear ratio so we changed the rear ones from 4.10x3.50x5 to 15x6.00x6 which then took it to 37mph .
the kart still revs out before the 1/8th so ive had some plates made up to adapt his hubs so we can now fit 8" on rear and 6" on front .
this is where we are now and hope to test it tomorrow to see the outcome http://imagehosting.rodsnsods.co.uk/...32f52b58b1.jpg
Looks like a cool project, the last picture weirdly looks really cool
I would go for the last pic, make a new body Ed Roth style
MMMM now you got me looking at go carts.
My dad is in sheltered housing now and gave up his driving license last year. He treated himself at Christmas to a new mobility scooter and gave me his old one so now I'm hunting down a 56 F100 tot rod body. I know they are made as I've seen them on the internet before
