new engine killed the clutch like I thought it would as that was the only thing that isn't new !!!!!!!!!! had a spare old one but with different ratio so now need to get technical with the gearing now
best was 14 @ 49mph
since hot rod drags 2015 it hasn't been touched !!!!!!!!!! so season is creeping up now so first thing was to change pedals to 2nd position as he has grown out of first setting already !!!!!
next step is changing rear sprocket from 84 teeth to 97 and make new chain .
hopefully have it all back together to test at weekend
'kin ell ....prince harry on the spanners....you roll with the big dogs...
The Oddlot Drag Racing Team...havin fun is usual
57 chevy wagon.
your not drunk enough if you can lie on the floor without holding on..
test all good with better acceleration with bigger sprocket and clutch
gearing gone from 15 front 84 rear to
16 front 97 rear pulls off quicker but not sure if it runs out of steam at end of track
still doing 14 @ 49

work this out then ??????????????
car has been running consistent 14s @ 49 mph and on his last run it spat the chain off , not sure how far up the track but I think about 3/4s of the way but it ran a 12 !!!!!!! still at 49 mph
I can only think that the engine maxs out and at that point the engine is holding car at same speed but as chain came off it gave a catapult kind of boost !!!!!
what's your thinking ??
I love the idea of a tot rod and kudos for building such a cracking set for your son
In terms of the chain / engine holding back the car I would refer to a bicycle rear wheel for inspiration and look at a free wheeling hub arrangement. Once top end is reached the momentum could then be allowed to continue without the engine braking effect. Either that or look at a mechanism to disengage drive at top end?
