Current MOT regs online? And how to prove age of engine?

    Hi

Are the full current MOT regulations viewable online? I've just followed umpteen links without getting anywhere.

I understand that the MOT should test engine emissions on whichever is older, the car or the engine. However, when I mentioned this to my local MOT place (n.b. I haven't done the engine swap yet), he looked at me blankly, and said "we just test them as they are", ie based on the age of the truck (2002).

I suspect (hope) this is because no-one takes modified cars there, but before I spend time and money doing a swap, I'd like to be able to read/quote/print off the relevant portion.

Does my twin-cab Ranger get the same MOT test as a regular passenger car?

Also, has anyone put an old engine in a newer car, and if so, how did they prove the age to the MOT station? According to the chart on Burtons website, my engine is May 1975, but I somehow doubt that'll cut it!

    Thanks

p.s. anyone know of rod-friendly MOT stations in Aylesbury/North Bucks?

https://www.mot-testing.service.gov....ov.uk%3A443%2F Bottom right side of that page will give you the most up to date regs and is what we go off, you need the class 3,4,5,7 manual.
Twin cab Ranger depends on weight but I expect it'll be class4
You need to prove the age of the engine.
What truck and what engine do you want to fit?

    Thanks for the link.

It's a 2002 Ford Ranger TD, and I want to put in a 3.0 Essex V6, which is apparently from May 1975 (and so if I've understood correctly, would only need a visual test).

I appreciate that the onus is on me to prove the age, but I was wondering what people have presented, in order to do this? A letter from an owners club? Or from a garage?

Why would you want to replace a Ford TDi with an old V6?

It'll be gutless and thirsty. One other thing to take into consideration is the effect it may have on the ECU and other systems in the truck.
