    Historic Vehicle road tax renewal.

Just for info, this morning I got 3 last chance notices from DVLA to tax 3 of my historic class vehicles. Can't remember getting the tax reminders in but no worries, they sent me the last chance forms today. Anyways, one is 1957, one is 1959 and the other is 1960. The first two taxed without question on line, but the 1960 required me to tick the box confirming that the vehicle had not been substantially modified before it would be taxed without a current MOT. The 1960 truck was registered as historic at import a year ago, so hasn't just gone into historic for the first time.
So, it looks like the pre 1960s which have been historic for years are being treated differently from the post 1960s which have come into historic class because of the rolling 40 year MOT exemption thing. I would have thought that historic was historic and the same rules apply to all regarding modifications.

I'm wondering that if we do ever leave the EU that the rolling 40 year thing and pre 1960 MOT exemption will be reversed but like you, I find it strange that post 1960 stuff is treated differently when the Historic taxation class was pre 1973 originally

Jim, I worked it out a while back that cars that were already MOT exempt( re pre '60) don't get asked the questions that the newly MOT exempt do . Not sure if it's a glitch or not ?

not sure Kev, I only posted this today as it's the first time I've encountered it, as hopefully, I don't need to tax my stock a year after I register it, but I do have a few longer term ones here just now which is why a tax renewal came into it.

Taxed the Zodiac (1964) for the first time since MOT exempt and had to tick the no mods box.

I didn't get the tick box online for my '61 but that is probably because I mot it every year.
