    Just a brief update, lots more work has been done but this post just how far into the build Jonny has gone.

    Axle in place

    Pile of floor panels, more are to be made for rear floor and boot along with wheel tubs

    The axle bars can be run in either 4 bar or ladder bar format by dropping the top bar down onto brackets welded to the bottom bars.
    The diagonal track locator is a temporary design to aid setting up and will most likely be replaced with a sliding joint Y design

    I really must get more detailed photo's off him sometime

    hi mate,
    re the unpainted bits. if they're out of sight you could always just give them a squirt of waxoil with a cavity nozzle, they reach in anywhere.

    Cheers guys I'll try & get some build pics off him, they were ones I had on my phone.

    He could actually be classed as a bit of a geek he has a masters degree with first class honours in Mechanical Engineering. For his day job he designs, builds & commissions robotic systems for companies around the world, at a local company. His pays not great but he has access to some great machinery that the staff can use for their own work & they put him through a tig welding course.
    His girlfriend Sam works as a CNC machinist there and she has done some amazing work for the car.

    You'll have to excuse any errors in the post as I'm having to do it on my tablet & the words are about a millimetre high.

    Hopefully not too long before I do a proper update

    Hi Evil, not ignoring your post, even though it was a year ago we did think about painting the rails but we thought welding the panels to the rails would have caused the paint to burn and blister giving areas where the paint would flake & cause water traps where moisture could actually get under the paint. The car won't see too much wet weather, so hopefully not too much of an issue
    I think with the use of a touch up gun we should be able to penertrate the panel gaps sufficiently.

    would echo the rest, the lads got skills, design and execution is spot on and he runs a nice weld. What's his day job ?

    A very quick update, I'll have to catch up with some of the missed details but in short the only original bits of the car left are now a few chassis tubes, roof, C pillars, half B posts, rear scuttle & rear panel (most likely to be replaced before the end).
    I'll add a few photos I have.

    Now for a piece I think is totally awesome and I mean awesome
    Totally scratch built right from the Cad design, flat sheet, etc. Even Jonathan's girlfriend Sam machined the face plate and the ally four link spacers.

    Some detail

    It' quite funny when talking to people how many don't realise just exactly the level of skill Jonny has acheived, I'm in awe because this is all self taught and what an evolution I've seen in his skills from when he started on his Escort 10 years ago & he's still only 26

    Ha ha just checked rear scuttle has been changed as well.

    Some fantatstic work going on there, but, wouldn't it have been better to paint the chassis tubes first before fitting the bulhead panels tight up against the tubes?. You'll never get paint in a lot the the areas shown in the photos and it's gonna rust like buggery, spoiling the look of the hard work.
