It's a pre-crossflow bored to 1560 with Lotus pistons/rods/crank/flywheel and Kent BCF3 cam. Pig around town but hold onto your hat on the motorway!

Select 1st gear. Mark the input shaft and output shafts on the top with tippex or marker pen. Turning the input shaft, count exactly how many times the input shaft turns to turn the output exactly once. You should find it turns 2.972 or almost three complete turns. Always perform this check twice and you must make certain it is in first gear. If it turns 3.5 times walk away. If it turns 2.5 you’ve probably found an Early Lotus box.

There is a way to check, I think is putting the box in 2nd and rotating the input shaft, and counting the rotations on the output. Without checking, I cant tell you what it should be, I do know there are people on here who know exactly what it should be,

Sounds about right, part number is correct for Mk2 Cortina 1600E, GT and Lotus, up to Oct 1968, so could well be in a 1969 Reg car.

    Ford 2000E gearbox ID anybody?

I have acquired a gearbox for my Consul Capri which surprisingly has the makers tag still on it. It says: 2821E AB FOB 9E17. Anybody able to tell me what all that lot means. I am told it was from a 1969 Cortina GT.
