I see where you're coming from but why waste your time chasing down parts for a vauxhall motor when you can pretty much bolt in a later GM, Chevy 3.8 etc straight 6 that has oodles more performance parts that either the vauxhall or holden version. Just because it's a straight 6 doesn't mean the yanks haven't exploited it to some degree. You should try researching the GM 6's and make a decision from there. A while ago i was looking at buying a PC Cresta with a shot motor and after chatting with a friend of mine he sugested going the GM route as it would be the most practical and cheapest way to go. Hope this helps in some way. Roger.

Thanks chaps. I thought that both being GM 3.3 engines they might be the same. Anyway, seems they're probably not.

No worries. Very happy with the engine I've got. I was just pondering ways of getting more power, without breaking the bank. As one does!

if you want to stick with a six cylinder, why dont you put a chevy straight six in ? very similar, and loads of tuning stuff available from the states...

I'm sure they're not the same. The 3.3 Vauxhall engine was derived from a Buick straight eight from the 30's..

Jez there was and not bad prices. My HR was a daily so didn't go the tuned motor route. I may be wrong but sure their iconic Monaro of the 60's had a tuned 6 in it and they were a fast old motor. I've sent him a mail so see what we can find out.

    Cheers Dan

Thanks Dan. There seem to be lot of performance bits for Holden motors (triple carb set ups and stuff) which Vauxhall never had.

Vauxhall and Holden 3.3 motors - are they the same?

I thought I'd find the answer to this on t'internet, but I haven't.

Does anyone know if the Vauxhall 3.3 straight six engine is the same as the 3.3 straight six found in 60s and 70s Holdens?

    Cheers - Jez
