    There's a shorty kit available with a short output shaft and plate to bolt onto the back. The output shaft has to be fixture welded into the carrier.
    I have the output shaft in stock and i can get the plate kit. I can also do the job too as you have to strip and rebuild the trans to do it all.

    Wasn't the (aluminium) Powerglide available in two lengths? I seem to remember being given a spare shorter tailshaft & housing when I had my Impala.

    Try Drivelink manufacture precision driveshafts , CV joints , steering racks , pumps they have a competition dept and are very helpfull, had some halfshafts made by them.

    Shortening Powerglide Output shaft ?

    Anybody know how feasable it is to shorten and respline a powerglide output shaft ? Needs to handle approx 550bhp.
