    Not sure about the 2.0 as found in mk5 Golfs and B6 Passats but the 1.9tdi can be had out of a B5/5.5 Passat, Audi A4, A6 as they are longitudinal in fitment, although I believe that the blocks are drilled for transverse and longitudinal mounting. Bellhousing bolt patterns are the same between petrol and diesel (common swap) and the input shaft is the same between the VAG engines and ford MT75 gearbox. Tiger kitcars do a conversion bellhousing for the type 9 and Alpha X kit cars did offer a complete adapter plate kit for the MT75. Do some enquiring on the VAG forums, you should be able to get the immobiliser defeated in the ECU meaning that you won't have to bother with the OE key and clocks.

    try a kitcar forum, i know they have adapters to fit VW/Audi angines on iether ford T9 or mt75 boxes. as far as i know diesel and gas engines have same mountings

    your right Col I should have been a bit more specific, He already has the engine so thats one reason. Engine mounts are not much of an issue. As far as gearbox well Ford is the most popular either the MT75 but it has a fixed bell housing or the T9 wich is removable. He has no box at present it was a case of seing if anyone had ideas?? One other point he has a Reliant Scimitar as a doner for suspension and back axle and he will also use the front half of the Scimitar chassis grafted to the moggy rails so that the front suspension will stay with the chassis rails. Good luck to him I say if it all works out could be good daily driver.

    I'm guessing he intends using a VW front wheel drive engine? You don't say which Ford gearbox as there are a couple of ways to go about it depending if Bell hsg is removable or not.
    Not wishing to sound like I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs, so please don't take this the wrong way.
    Other considerations are that the engine mounts are usually completely wrong to convert FWD to RWD, with a mount on the front of the engine and 2 on the gearbox.
    I think that would be a bigger problem to get round. Is he intending to use the Moggy axle as I would think the ratio would be miles out and maybe not strong enough?
    If your friend is able to get around all of that, then could he not draw up an adapter that he could get made in a local engineering shop?
    Unless he already has the engine, it would be simpler to get a complete RWD diesel engine and gearbox as a unit.

    vw rear wheel drive

    I have a friend who is wanting to build an everyday use Moggy traveler (subtle) street rod, he wants to use a VW 2ltr Turbo Diesel engine and rear wheel drive (FORD) gear box, does anyone know anyone who would be interested in working out and machining up an adaptor to get this to work.
