    as long as the oil pump is fitted and there's room to bolt the pickup pipe to it and still room for a tin sump around them that'll be enough gap. even if the motorsport pan ends up too tight it's only metal, you can modify it to be tight to the pump to suit.

    Hope you don't mind me contacting you?
    Would like to pick your brains if I can.
    As you know I Have a 460 Ford for the Truck I have to do the rear sump conversion also I am going to buy the Ford Motorsport rear sump pan kit with new oil pump and pick up.
    But I have the Engine here now and would like to start to get it in place and fabricate motor mounts etc etc .
    You picked up the clearance issue I had with the Cleveland on the Crown vic straight away.
    Would you have any idea of the sort of clearance I should be looking at with the 460 on the Crown Vic ?
    I have not got the rear sump to measure so before I start e-mailing people for sump dimensions thought I would give you a shout first.

    I have always been very partial to a Ford and had a few over the years.
    There is one that I wish I still had many years back I had a Stunning 1970 Mach I Mustang that cost me back in the day 1400 I had the thing all stripped down to Pro-street it fell in love with a 41 Willys Coupe that I bought and I gave the Mustang away.

    yep gotta love a ford and so cheap to buy compared to a chevy. parts aren't much different nowadays either.

    I have gone the full hogg today and bought a Big Block 460 motor for the truck.
    Will update the build very soon

    You need 6 1/2'' for the pump end of the sump to clear.
    until last night I was shy of that but made a alteration to the motor mounts and got what I needed.
    The knock on from raising the motor is you loose all the clearance you had for the transmission bellhousing to clear the floor of the truck body.
    and as there is no transmission tunnel in the truck a small mod is going to be required to create the clearance.
    I am sure there is a lot more fun to come doing this truck but you have to love doing it.
