    cheers mate. like say you know your stuff well. only thing puts me off with going bigger stroke for a blower set up it the piston pins move closer to the rings so that worrys me a bit and and been as want to keep power down abit to be honest as wont need to spend as much into the chassis set up then as costing a far bit already so least get on road n sorted from now the main thing.

    Knowing the sum of parts and building an engine are two different entities IMHO.
    As I posted before I ask many questions and try to find what combos work with what. I could pick you a combo built on your budget/goals but final say us left to your experienced engine builder.

    I would never claim to know how to build a sbf but the sum of parts I've a good idea.
    I paid an extra 1000 to go Dart SHP block. This gave me 4 bolt billet main caps on 2/3/4, no cap walk worries on nitrous, a 2.75" main bearing size over the 351w 3" for less friction and rpm capability, and the 4.125 bore size and custom Pistons.
    This unshrouds the valves and of course allows bigger inlet and better power....so a no brainer really for me.
    Id just like you to max your investment. Buying a whole new rotating assembly I'd hit the 408 all day and everyday .....it's no weaker, that's why Woody don't do stockers.
    The old 393 strokers use something like a stock heavy 302 piston and possibly a Chevy style rod....forgot the actual combo but not worth the effort.
    With a sorted chassis and traction your car could haul ass....and whine lol

    Cheers Shaun you know bloody loads considering you say you don't build them you should get into that side of things would do well from sounds of it.

    I have an internal Powerbond balancer, a step up is the Innovators West. Both go 28 external, internal (neutral) and double key way.
    The owner of Coast High Performance regularly posts on the Corral.
    All 351w are 28oz external, and most kits would be balanced to this. Neutral is better but can be harder, more expensive dependant on crank that's used.
    You buy a zero balanced damper and flex plate ....some of these come with removable weights to offer both.
    Head gaskets id use the Felpro MLS.
    As for cam for a few extra bucks and get a custom Hyd roller. Woody uses Comp, I'm not sure if Bullet cams are still going, but get on the Bullet (yellow) there is good info and recommendations for a cam ground for your application.
    I'd reccommend Ed Curtis @ Flowtech Induction.

    The other thing is whey out look at the street fighter kit it gives you options to have 28oz balanced with balancer and flexplate but then look at the scat one and the only option for that one says external balance but without any other bit so what would I need to get for just external balance if no options of having 28oz and so on?

    In the link they do the bearings use clevite ones and moly pre fit rings I've asked them if can upgrade to clevite tri armour what suppose to be the bests ones they do and if had the total seal gap less rings also so just waiting for them to get back to me with price extra.

    Will go with fel pro as used by everyone really ent they.

    Rad will look at serck one with fans.

    Will look out for cams then and yer thinking 600 carbs also.

    Will go for 8.5 to lower then for comp then cheers mate.

    Also will probably buy unbalanced and then get a engine builder over here to balance it to make sure done right and to put a double key in it also.

    CR use the Wallace racing calculator and check but I'd guess 13-18

    Balance it to 28 or 50. You don't really have much choice....either that or buy a fluid one

    Gasket wise cometic or felpro work fine, black felpro or blue will suffice

    Standard water pump or high volume with up rated rad

    Choose a blower cam.....there's specific ones for blown applications

    Pair of 600s or edelbrock vs carbs would work

    Bearings are missing. Clevite p series I think are the top ones. Rings need to be gapped to match piston specs and use the smallest lightest Pistons/ring packs about

    Dizzy a proper billet Petronix or Malory unit or ford racing

    I'd build for 8:1 or slightly lower then you can always up boost later

    What your thoughts to one of these kits? Thinking about the street fighter kit or the scat one mainly scat as probably a better cast crank than the other only thing is the I beam rods would these be ok still as not looking for that much power anyway and nearly $1000 dollars less than the others. With 64cc cylinder heads to give me a 8.58 compression or 61cc gives 8.82 compression.
