    Based upon qualifying alone, apparently the NHRA’s rule changes accomplished what they were intended to. The first six qualifiers were made up of two nitrous oxide-assisted cars, three supercharged cars and a single turbo car.

    But despite the rule changes, turbocharged engines still obviously make more horsepower than any other engine combination.

    Turbocharged R2B2 teammates Brad Personett and Roger Burgess both exceeded the 255-mph mark while just one supercharged car, Danny Rowe, cracked the 250-mph barrier. Of the twenty-five cars invited to Gainesville, five were turbocharged, just three were nitrous injected, and the rest were supercharged.



    So Tony Gransden was way ahead of his time then running that twin turbo bb 69 Camaro almost 30 years ago !! Quote....Absolutely !Things have moved on a wee bit since Tony was doing it id recon...


    As ive already stated Blower cars are all being held back by how much blower speed!

    Absolutely! Though the turbo cars are quick they just don't do it for me. Mmmm.... Fat set of tires out back with a 6/71 through the bonnet, or fat tires on the front of your mum's car with two turbos sticking through the bonnet like a coke addict's nostrels?

    I know which I would choose.

    Don't forget the aero advantage of getting the big blower and hat out of the wind! Can't beat the sound of a blower having it's nuts revved off at the top end though, mad sound!!

    Blower cars have "instant" power which can be difficult to harness and make useable. Turbo cars are still a bit unknown , but do have a more progressive power curve that can be "tuned easier".
    The N20 cars have been allowed bigger engine sizes over the years , this has given them a big advantage recentley.

    It won't just be in the States either. There will be turbo cars over here this season and into next. It's gonna be interesting to say the least. Personally I still prefer the blown cars for looks and sound though.

    I like the mix you get in Pro Mod. Blower cars leading from the line, sometimes the turbo cars catching them with superior top-end speed.

    Not wanting to go off topic, but did you see the slo-mo shots of the cars leaving the line? The tyre shake was amazing.

    At the moment Blower cars can only run a certain overdrive ratio,and turbos in pro mod are an unknown quantity sort of ,so untill they get to what size turbo or cubic inch makes an equvilant power to a blower car,they will be makin huge power and maybe there may be an advantage in there somewhere,also its fashion twin turbos are at the forfront of tecnology,mental horespower and MPH.

    Was just wondering, as I have just watched ESPN's coverage of the Gatornationals, and there have been a lot of teams switching from blower to turbo's...

    Are they 'easier' on the engine???

    Weight breaks, or what???

    Must admit that a nitrous car won the Gators, thought they had almost died out...???

    No real reason for asking, just curious...
