Are you sure its called dollop mate, I think he may have been talking in farmer tongue ,there is a very strong weedkiller we used to use at work called Gallup. If its that then 25ltrs for 15 is a bargain.

The glyphosphates in the links are 360 strength, not strong enough to kill brambles, it only turns the leaf edges brown. I think the strongest you can get is 490 which might do it

re rat poison: try using plaster paris powder in a take away type tub with a bit of flour mixed and put a simular size tub with water in it close by.As rats can"t be sick and will eat the plaster paris/flour mix then have a drink and you know what happens next.
very enviromentaly friendly if you have pets etc,but keep the mix covered from the rain obviousley and you can see where the run too as they get it on there paws too.

If you don't want to kill grass, you need a different product as glyphosate based weedkillers are indescriminate - they are general use weedkillers. To avoid issues with grass dying off use a selective weedkiller for broadleaf plants etc, something like 'Broadsword' or equivilent

We always use a wood preservative called Protim our local timber merchant uses it, it's great for killing anything in the soil.
