    I totally agree with Langy there on the usedc Holleys.

    For which one to use I'd sum it up like this.

    If street/strip then a Holley, if is just street then I'd go an Edelbrock.

    I think Holleys get a bad press because they are usually old as people buy 2nd hand, To be honest i've never had a problem with a new Holley or Edelbrock, The Edelbrock is just as tunable as a Holley but i prefer Holleys for strip use and find Edelbrocks excellent for the road.

    Edelbrocks versus Holleys....

    Edelbrocks have always worked straight out of the box for me. Holleys are poo. They leak and take your mind of the ball. You shouldn't have to be worrying about a carb leaking and well, for me holleys leak. Two Holleys later and I'm running edelbrocks.

    vince any holley built since 1992 should not blow power valves if there is a backfire, they were redesigned to stop that fault happening. they put in a check ball valve which closed in the event of a backfire stopping the diaphram rupturing.

    im running a 305 chevy which needs a 570 but im running a 600 not a lot of difference but enough and with the edelbrock you have metering rods and jets and different spring rates that are all changable plus the acc pump has 3 postions and you can buy jets and springs in sets at around 50 ish

    Yep holleys can be a real pain but so can the edelbrock

    I filled the sump with petrol with the holley due to the power valve (1 pop back and there normally fubar'd) but you can do somthing to prevent that from happening

    And with the edelbrock i washed the engine with petrol and filled the bores whilst pushing the car with the ignition on had a waterfall effect over the top of the carb down the inlet over the back of the heads on to the exhausts and about 20 out of pocket

    but i have found the edelbrock the better carb and mines too BIG for my engine

    Cheers Guys sounds like its going to be a edelbrock for me then as this is a road car that I want to enjoy driving and not be under the bonnet every time I take it out

    always had trouble with holleys and no problems with edelbrocks myself. the holleys i've had always seem to overfuel no matter what i tried to do with them.
