How about the rover KV6? 175-205hp light small and only 2500cc. They share the same bolt pattern as the I4 K series so adapter plates are available to mount ford boxes.

had you considered a cologne v6 (2.3/2.4/2.8/2.9)? pretty sure they're smaller than an essex from memory, lighter for sure. neil.

Well the measurements arrived and after a quick measure it’s too big, the Essex is 18 inch wide and the omega is 26 inchwide, plus it’s 26 inch long ,so I would have to cut out the brake and steering part of the bulkhead then start again, so it’s a non starter , so it’s back to the zetec, thanks for all your input....

Is the C3 a Ford BH fitment ?

Do the Ford alloy V6's use the same BH pattern ? Mondeo etc ?

The earlier versions weren’t fly by wire so that could be an option.
Make sure you change the cam belt and tensioners and make sure they’re good quality, these engines seem to eat them more so than normal belt engines and then it’s scrap.
The 3.0 is a good quad cam engine and surprisingly compact but becoming quite rare.

Just had another thought, could I fit my c3 auto box onto the omega auto bell housing?, they look alike and maybe just need red rolling to suit, any thoughts on this idea, cheers........

After some research I’ve found out that it’s fly by wire throttle and the auto gearbox has its own Ecu, so getting more complicated the deeper I look, but all the info I’ve found say it’s more or less the same size as the Essex V6 so should fit in ,just waiting on a seller to measure up,even looked at a manual gearbox but then I’m into clutch pedal and cylinder which I’d have to alter the floor and bulk head, so maybe a nonstarter, choices choices........
