Had a similar hot starting problems with mine - the carbs I had (twin Kadron/Solex 40s) were really sensititive to fuel pressure & when the engine was hot, fuel pressure was either too low or too high (not sure which) & took ages to re-start. The only cure was to fit an adjustable FPR, that sorted mine. Depending what carb/carbs you have, could be a similar issue?

    Hi Bob,

Can you hold/cable tie/tape the choke butterfly in the open position, then see if it runs and starts ok when warm. Would save you buying leads and coil if not needed.

    Cheers.

    Russ.

I honestly don't know Steve. I've just brought the car out of winter hibernation. I think I will go buy a new coil and leads to try n eliminate them. I appreciate the rapid reply. The coil and leads were replaced about 3 years ago and the car has only done 300 miles in that time. We just don't use her that's why we put her up for sale and I don't want the new owner having problems.

Sold my karmann ghia on eBay. This problem has just arisen. Car starts fine when cold. But if It cuts out or I turn off it won't start when warm. Buyer is flying up from London and driving home....any ideas?....serious answers plz buyer arriving 9.39 Wednesday morning. Should say car turns over really fast but won't start when warm. Any help appreciated....bob. Worst thing is I don't have a number for buyer but they've kept in contact via email and their feedback is brilliant and I don't want to mess them about
