    Myles, correct, it would be ok then, though it would still need a slipper joint.

    I'm not a fan of track locators, they are perfect for the strip but on the street not so nice. Even with a slipper joint they mess with your roll centres, below the axle line increases roll and above reduces roll.

    So if you raised the whole wishbone so that it aligned with the axle's axis of rotation it would be OK? (Except that it would probably end up fouling the propshaft!)

    Yep, till they break they make excellent anti roll bars
    Your limited travel combined with low mileage saved you, but it will break in the end.

    Definitely wont be fine Chaley, if axle raises & falls equally it's fine, lift one side & drop the other (you wont be able to) then the triangle sides need to change length - but they can't without the slipper joint. Results are either: broken rose joint at chassis end, broken bracket at chassis end or broken rose joints at axle ends.

    The issue is the axle rotates around the centre point between the 4 bars whereas the locator rotates around the lower fixing of the 4 bars. Two different axis of rotation fighting against each other.

    Iíd have thought itíll be fine without a slipper, as all the pivot points match the lower 4 bar mounts so canít see how the length of arcs can be at odds with each other.
    I had something similar on my 123e, but in fairness that only had about 2Ē of travel so didnít ever have enough travel to show up ant problems

    I thought it had a slipper joint but now you mention it I'm not sure it does.

    If one is not fitted then that will snap off in very short order. If you want to see what happens try jacking up one side of the axle only and see what happens to the other side.

    The one's I've seen in drag racing (track locator) always have a slipper joint at the front, due to the different arcs of travel between the four link and track locator, otherwise it may bind up ?? great build by the way.

    Thanks for the extra information. I had not seen a wishbone used as well as upper and lower links. It usually just replaces a pair.

    Hi Marcus, I think these pics should explain this devise . The track locator uses the same front pivot point (although its central) as the lower front 4 bar mount and uses the same mount on the axle ,so as the axle goes up and down the track locator does not extend or decrease in length .All its doing is triangulating the 4 bar . I believe the drag race guys can use a similar set up although its more of a crucifix design . I think Chassis Works use it on one of their set ups ???.







    Next job before tackling the shock mounts is to make the final rear cross member ,I have only ever had a piece of 50mm x 100mm box tacked in position . The problem with the rear of the chassis is that when the truck bed goes on because of the shape of the fort lower corners it has to go under the cab first the lowered down .This isn't to bad at mock up stage but when its all painted it will damage either the bed or the cab . To overcome this the bed would go on first then the cab but this is not practical for plumbing wiring etc. So I have decided to modify the rear of the chassis to enable the bed to go on more easily
    So I have made a new rear cross member which has some thick steel welded inside to allow me to drill and tap for a removable bed mount which should make things alot easier !!!.
    New cross member , next make up the removable piece
