finally got my lap top to down load some pics.
just going to put a load of pics on and then explain whats been going on.
sorted out the flexi,s for the pedal box and got that fitted and in the process i have now put dyno mat on the floor pans as i am now going to fit a little bit of carpet . i have had the center bearing made for the crank where the layshaft of the gear box locates and the gearbox has now been topped up with fresh oil ready to be mounted on the engine during the week.
i took the intake manifold of because it looked like it was cracked but as it turned out it was just the paint that had a crack in it so i stripped it all off and painted it purple just to tone the engine bay down abit.
i have also stripped the wrap of the wheels and wing mirrors and with the exhaust back on i was able to fit the wheels and get the tina off the axle stands. it does look way better with out the copper wrap.
the plan this week is to get the engine and box back in by saturday, connect up the clutch, make sure it works ok and then get the engine ready to run.
underside is now stone chipped and the gearbox painted so were moving in the right direction. phone wont load photos at the moment so no pics im afaid.
yes i know what you mean guys, it seemed a good idea at the time but sometimes less is more.
got the under side painted today so it just a bit of stone chipping tomorrow and its done. in between painting today i masked up the gearbox so tomorrow i will chuck some paint on it and hopefully in the next week or two it can start going back together.
It looked like an "Indian bizarre" with all that ****** on it after all that work, im liking the toning down idea mate and the chrome, well done for sticking it out.
Needs a vinyl roof LOL
I think it will look better. IMO the copper kinda spoilt it but that was only my opinion.
not really had much to show for the last few weeks as life in general is getting in the way but i have seen the light today and made some progress. got the inside painted so it can dry for a few days and then i will get the underside done.
on the big to do list is turning the cortina back to more of a classic looking car, to do this the copper wrap is coming off and i am going back to chrome. the bumpers are being dropped of tomorrow to be wrapped in chrome and the wrap on the wheels and door mirrors will get removed over the next few weeks, also some of the copper painted parts will be redone in the purple. just want to tone down the overall look of the car.
get some pics on later in the week.
it will never be done this car.
are you finished once the paintings done
been fairly busy this week.
finished up all the gearbox tunnel pieces, also cut an excess hole into the side of the trans tunnel so i can get at the slave cylinder for the clutch and made up a cover plate.
looking very dusty at the moment.
today been on with masking up the inside for paint as everything is going to be sprayed back purple even though i am going to put carpets on the floors just to cut down some of the road noise.
next job is a load of sanding.

over the last few years the garage seems to get really cold (or i could just being getting old ) so over the last few months we have been installing a fire with a back boiler so later on we could plumb in a few radiators. today was the day when we could finally fire it up.
what a difference , its going to make working in winter alot better.
If I want to warm my garage up, I go for a drive in the truck, when it gets back in garage, shut doors, temp in garage goes up by about 5 degrees!
