It's true about the slant 4 lump - tuned well they rock.

I just swapped my Viva estate that I was planning on doing a Lotus conversion on - using a Lotus 907 twin cam 16v 2.0 lump becasue they were designed on the Vauxhall slant 4 - so it's a bolt in deal (with mods to mounts etc). Lotus and Vauxhall never did do a magnum - but the history with the engine development suggests they should have. The viva has gone (two days ago ) but I've still got the engine (reportedly rebuilt 2.0 907 out of an elite - so cross drilled crank), a 5 speed '78 lotus elite box to suit (looks like new inside - may have been rebuilt. looks like it will slip right in the tunnel and the gearstick hole line up looks good as well), manual clutch and pressure plate, starter motor, a full set of dash clocks, a set of twin dellorto 40's (require a strip down) and an all important Lotus service manual binder. Also got a 2.3 back axle, some trailing arms etc.

If you are intersted in the bits - let me know - but unfortunately I'm going to have to get a good price to pay for tools and parts on my new project. hard to track down though and we may be able to work somthing out.

    Cheers.

Looking good - my first car was a 1256 Viva Coupe. Just one possible word of caution - are those Opel wheels? Mine came with them fitted but they had a 100mm PCD rather than the Vauxhall 4". Wheels fitted okay over the studs but when the nuts were tightened it pulled the studs in slightly bending them and making it interesting getting the rear drums off!!! Might be wrong but possibly worth checking. Keep up the good work.

dont dismiss the 2300 vauxhall engine, had a couple of these with mods and they were very quick for a road car
