Speaking from my own experience I find 20 gauge a challenge to bead roll but dont think either of my bead rollers would make a good job on 18g. Bending 18gauge is not so bad depending on the equipment at hand. Its surprising how rigid 20 gauge or 1mm sheet steel can be made with a few beads and bends. I think the floors in my Prefect are 20 gauge and the bulkhead certainly is about 20 gauge. It all depends on the span, the shape and the loads. I have stayed with the 18mm plywood under the drivers seat and back floors and as the front floor under the pedals doesn't take so much load I have found 20 gauge adequate. I am also using 20 g for the gearbox tunnel and the pedal box platform - it seems rock solid now its welded into a box configuration. If you look at the specs provided by machinery dealers on the net you might find it helpful. Dave
