John, have a search for a Dandy Designer or Dandy Discovery, we got a Designer a couple of years ago and they are brilliant - warm, comfy, cheap and easy to tow at under 750Kgs (designer is about 4-500Kgs)

John your 55 probably is going to end up at about 2 tons the max towing weight is 75% of that so most caravans will come under that weight you will struggle with the pop tho
if you fancy a classic caravan let me know and ill put you in touch with a guy who has collected far too many his wife is gonna divorce him he needs to shift some

What are they like as vans? and what sort of cost would a use-able one be could you give me a ball park figure?

    John
They are the same to use as a modern caravan weight and towing wise even sleeping they may be more comfortable the ones with single glazed windows may lose a little more heat but all caravans are insulated with polystyrene and rock wool inside the cookers are the same as modern ones heaters are the same gas units if you want blown air heating it can be put in they diddnt have hot water before 1983 or showers but these can be put in
the electrical systems are basic but you can put in a battery and zig unit for less than 200

They are pretty rotten at this age you can get one thats in fairly good nick for 1500 I just baught a 1962 17 foot safari for 100 but its a mess if I were rebuilding it for a customer it would be a 6-7000 job including paint but the one you buy for 1500 off ebay may be just as bad somone has just tarted it up and sold it on
