    Just read that some antique tractors with hardly any eletrical accesories used a 8v battery and wonder if your reg was setup for one of these batteries

    Sounds like there could be an over voltage problem. What car is it? and can you put up a pic of the regulator with the top off? there are a couple of different ways that current was regulated on 6 volt systems, so either the dynamo or regulator may need adjustment if there is an issue.

    voltage regulator ?

    my car is running on 6volt and i seem to blow bulbs very often,im wondering if it might be the regulator ,has anyone had any experience with modern versions or other corrective means , dont want to spend a huge amount as i may go 12 volt at some stage, cheers
