I've got many happy memory's of that time, but not too many pictures. I'll try to find what I've got and post them here.
Its blowing my own trumpet a bit, but the last show we did, before the Nats moved was our best by far. The Marquee we were in was pretty huge and we filled it with loads of really good stuff. It was hard work, but good fun
    Happy days.

We used to meet as a club in the Shirley Poppy pub once a month and in another pub, name forgotten but now a McDonalds before that. At its hight, SLAM would have forty or so members bring models along to the first pub and generally have a great night. The pub gave us a huge back room, tables, food and let us get on with it. I've got the old club magazines somewhere, again I'll find them and do a few scans if anyones interested.

Dick Bash from the Cabin used to provide some raffle prizes and had a decent selection of kits in his tiny shop.
I moved out of London some time ago,and drifted away due to various commitments elsewhere.
As far as I know, the clubs still running and meeting at the Poppy, but its shrunk in size a bit. I still bump into a couple of members every now and then, they are all still building and collecting.

    Tony.
Yep the clubs still going, meets at the Surprise Inn, Upper Shirley Road, Croydon CR0 5HF(Unsure which Night, though still have member contact list at home).
On my last trip back to the UK 2008, bumped into a few of the guys at Modelzone Sutton, membership now down to 12 or so, Incl Terry Ross etc.
Emmigrated to Cyprus 2005 and thought that I wouldnt have time for modelling so donated my entire 100+ collection, parts, paints PE to the club, Aint hindsight wonderful??

You'll find it in the SSR tent, but whether it is just SSR members I don't know. Farncombe Pop should know more....

How gutted was I that I missed the model tent last time I was at Wheels Day? Only went in there as one of the guys was packing up the last of his stuff.

Nice to see some of what I missed... I recognise the '59 Cadillac and '39 Chevy hearses from Classic American.

I used to buy a lot of stuff from Dick Bash at The Cabin in Mottingham, he'd stay open late til 9pm if he knew you were making a special trip over. Got my first resin kits from him - at £40 a time! Big money for a student.
When he died maybe ten years ago a lot of his stock was bought by guy whose name I unfortunately don't remember but he ran a pub and sold the kits as a sideline through mail order.

The Model Shop in Harrow was the other place that was always worth a visit, they got a lot of the US issued stuff in. Then they moved to much smaller premises in a worse area of London and then, as far as I know, they closed too.

Cool, I run into these guys most years at Telford, not seen most of those builds before though.

Still love that bubbletop '65 Impala

Just sorting through kits to thin out my collection and found a few completed kits that had been entered in various shows over the years. Will clean them up for photos and post as soon as I can.
Incidentally has anyone got a scan of the Small Talk articles with a either a pink 70 Dodge Challenger or yellow 68 Vette L88 from the Donnie Custom Car shows. Would have been 92 or 93. If you have can you post it up please and I can match it with the "real thing".

    Thanks
