1964 Chevrolet Belair wagon

So after selling our Shoebox Ford 1950 Shoebox | Retro Rides last year and spending some of the funds on a bedroom for number 2 child Jack,we had been on the look out for another toy when this popped up on a selling site .

We collected the Chevy from Southampton docks at the beginning of July , so now get her home in the garage .
First sight and the long walk from one end to the other .

Overall we are really happy with it , just a brake service as it pulled a bit to the left .
Very solid and apart from a few bubbles in the paint on the rear arches and a drive through paint job at some point it is excellent.
Suprisingly only the licence plate lamp fails to work

Now to get it legal and load it up for camping .

So after a set of brake shoes and a few brake hoses and some other smaller parts its mot'd .

Then this happened to it over the next weekend ......

Earlier than expected we took the Chevy for a camping weekend at a local Hot Rod club weekender .
This was the first time I had driven it on the Ezairride set up and compared to when I took it for mot on the stock suspension it is superb , handles great and less body roll and wallowing .
Really impressed with it and it does not feel like an 18 foot long wagon on the road .

We now had two and a half weeks now before the NSRA Supernats at Old Warden and wanted to run the mop over it and get the alluminium mouldings on the side and back before then .

After some searching we managed to find some suitable trim clips and started to fit the trim , this is one side .

We still did not have the registration back from the DVLA yet and Old Warden is was the next weekend .................................

The registration turned up ,I made a quick number plate to make it sort of legal
and took Jo and the kids to the seafront for some chips..

Got the Chevy to Old Warden for the NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals , she behaved perfectly . Ideal for camping as you can really load it up with gear.
May have to rebush the rear end though as a bit wandery at the back end at 70mph .
Excellent weekend was had at this superb show .

Then a week and a bit off and up to Ipswich for the Nasc Street Rod Nationals .
Even got stuck in some traffic on the A12 and still she behaved herself .
Again another superb weekend organised by a handfull of people .

She does not quite fit in parent and child space though but sure beats a Picasso or Zafira as a people carrier .

I have been doing a few bits over the winter .
Front suspension got a freshen up ,new ball joints and bushes and a fresh coat of black paint .
Now goes up and down silently on the air bags rather than sounding like an old squeaky bedframe .

Also got a pile of Interior parts on their way from Classic Industries ,
which will hopefully be here and fitted before Wheels Day .
