    Commer pick up

Hi Guys i came across this site whilst doing abit of research for our ongoing project at work so i thought i would post afew piccies up in the hope that you guys on here can give me abit of history on the old girl and point me in the right direction on places to get spares from.
Any way enough waffeling time for some piccies

From what i think i know so far its a commer superpoise with the added bonus of a jet engine mounted in the bed

We got the truck from the guys up at BAE woodford in south manchester when the site was being wound down to be closed as far as we know it had never been registered for use on the road and spent all of its life motoring round the airfield covering on 13k miles until it was superseded by a newer bit of kit and got parked up in a corner of one of the hangers and was forgoton about for the best part of 10 years until it was offered to us.
Weve had the truck at our works office for nearly a year now slowly restoring it with the help of group of local volunteers and small businesses from the area in the hope of getting it on the road so we can use the turbine in the bed to start our main engines on this other old girl

    The worlds last flying Vulcan

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and any info you have would be greatly recieved

    Cheers Mark.

We had Garrett engines fitted to the back of our ford transit's, to start the old passenger aircrafts without apu's, the
Airport owners banned them, didn't like the idear of vehicle running the apron with tanks full of aviation fuel on board.

The conversions were carried out by Philips aviation in Chichester

Used to love the sound of the start up of them old Garrett engines

zody, i had a garrett turbine from a place i worked,it was so light me and a mate could lift it into his estate car (sierra),,,we looked at it in there and decided to wind the chaps up at the local pub so pulled in the car park and my mate told the landlord he was using it to blow dry peoples gardens....we got pulled by the old bill that day, when they looked in the back we got told to promptly f off and go home......happy days......
