The engine is based on a Metro Turbo,so blow through SU,rising rate fuel pressure regulator. The engine internals are not exotic, but CR is only 8:1.Ignition is Megajolt plus Ford EDIS .It's intercooled with a GT 1753 Turbo off a Saab 9-5. 200bhp on 18 psi boost plus 25 bhp NOS,measured on the RR.
The transmission is all Ford - Mk1 Escort Mexico clutch,S/C type 9 box,English axle casing with Atlas competition shafts and side gears, plus Tran X diff.Still Midget springs, but a home made Cal-Trac set up to tie it down. Can't get traction off the line,so fitting a set of M/T drag slicks as we speak.

Thanks for the info, Iv got an escort with a xflow running similar times, its now got a volvo 240 axle with moser shafts and detroit locker, but im struggling with the gearbox now, i was using a rs2000 type e 4 speed box but last time out i sheared all the teeth off the input shaft, What is the 1st gear ratio your using and how does the car come off the line?

The tyres your fitting are exactly what i have, i don't think you'll get any wheel spin now they are very good!

hey Joe,I feel a match race coming on! The first gear ratio is around 2.5,with rear gears of 4.1.This means I'm at c.7000 in 4th over the line. The slicks should give better traction, but also raise the effective gearing by about 5%.It's slow off the line, with massive wheelspin.Look up TVR vs MG Midget on youtube to see what I mean.

Saw this at the drags at the weekend and (along with the Minor) was well impressed at how well they were going. Might have to get my plastic Spitty/Hurricane sorted so we can run a "R&S ****y four pot challenge" - second thoughts, no, you'll just make me look embarassingly slow...

Steve thats sounds good, im in the process of sorting a new gearbox now so hopefully be back out soon, im having a straight cut one built at SP components, With the M/T slicks on my car theres no need for a big burnout it seems to grip whatever! A 1.7 60ft is my best to date.

    Ill check out your video.

My best 60 ft is around 1.95,and from some in car video I shift into 2nd just after 60 ft but I think that's mostly because of wheelspin.
