    Re: My Vette

Nice to see you went for the red! I bought a spanking new one back in '66. A fastback coupe with the 427 (450 horse fx ) motor. I cut off the whole back end and fitted a one piece unit that incorporated a smallish spoiler and did away with the back bumpers and exhaust apertures. Then fitted those factory side pipes. Christ were they loud! I used to carry a set of earplugs in the glovebox for the longer drives. The pipes seemed to resonate inside the coupe bodyshell. Maybe the ragtops don't do it. I was forever getting busted for noise or "modified exhaust" as they used to call it in California. I brought it to UK in 1968 and at some point Led Zepelin's drummer had it and blew that wonderful motor. It sat in his garden for ages and the last I saw of it, a friend showed me a Corvette book and my old car was on two pages! A new motor, different wheels and sidepipes but that was the one. A photo of the dash showed something like 14200 miles on the clock.
