    3 wire alternator wiring

Anyone got a simple wiring diagram for a 3 wire 17/18acr Lucas alternator? Google doesn't seem to show me quite what I'm after.

Large end terminal to main feed ( starter ) middle main to main feed on starter again or looped to first main lead, small terminal wire through to warning lamp ; )

As Fordson Van says, the two large Lucar terminals are joined together inside the Aternator -both are "B" connections- Lucas did this so that two thinner wires could be used in the wiring loom rather than one thick one. Smaller Lucar terminal is the field exciter and needs to go to switched ignition -it can be wired via a warning lamp if you have one.

For your alternator use a 120/03 wire size from the one of the large terminals direct either to the starter motor battery cable terminal or direct to the + terminal on the battery. For a alternater with a higher output use a second wire of the same size from the second large terminal. For the warning light use a 14/03 wire from the small ( Field ) terminal to the warning light.
