Mmmmm not so sure , the drive ability of a twin turbo blow through setup will be far worse than a well built NA small block at lower speeds .

this is true , you can use a much much softer cam , that will make low down toque far better than a cam you would use for a nat aspirated 500 bhp small block .

to give an idea , my turbo 1310 5 port mini engine makes over 100 lbs/ft at 2800 rpm .comes on cam at 2300 ish , and peaks at 6800 ,with 187 bhp on only 16 psi ,and a lot more at 20 psi+ , you just cannot get that sort of power and trq spread with a non turbo . oh it also does 40 mpg +.

Mg i think that whole package is more likely to make well over 600 bhp easily .

My concern would be getting the blow through carb to behave at normal driving , yet also giving the extra fuel when on boost , from a lot of what I read the battle is between one and the other with this kind of setup , if you are using injection it is much more achievable as you can have a map to reflect the differences .

Any way time will tell , all I know there are plenty of drivable NA sbc setups making the power he wants which are still perfectly street able , my own 383 gen2 setup idles fine , revs to 6000 and pushes over 450 no issues .

As mentioned before if the exercise was to create hp or just to look cool , 500hp does not make sense , 650 plus yeah go for turbos but you are moving away from A daily driver for sure .

Ha ha I know what you mean , my next project will hopefully be a twin turbo LS setup 5.3 in many ways it is easier to set up twins with a v8 , I will be using injection of that most likely . There are some good articles on budget blown LS setups with cam selections mentioned , may be of help
