    Any Ford Tech guys here.

Been told a local Ford agent, that the electric steering pump has gone west on the 55 Ford focus daily run-about, got a second hand one from a salvage company, as the pumps from Ford are £400.00+
Fitted the pump, filled with fluid (£18.00 per ltr) & the bloody is still not working, check all fuses there fine, is there anything else I should be looking for ?? sensers etc:

Any info will be much appreciated.

    Thanks Bob

Knowing modern stuff it probaby needs the computer resetting by Ford for it to recognise the new part. Seems to be the usual way to hold you to ransom nowadays

I'm sure a Ford tech guy will confirm though.

Im not an expert but are you sure its not the rack ? And is the power to the pump cotrolled via the ecu ? as it could be that it has to have a dealer reset ? might be a can bus problem ?

I have heard of a can bus, which is part of the code program, which like you say controlled by the ecu, but just wondering if there was a senser device on the rack that tells the pump when to operate, power wise ?

Tried phoning three local auto electric men, and not one of them have got back to me, as yet??

Might end up trowing into a Ford main dealer, hope not anyway

It might be worth having a look around some or the fast ford owners club forums you may find the answer you are looking for ? Before you start to throw £££££££ at it I think there is a site called ffoc .com or .co.uk which is the Ford Focus oners club
