Its now done 500 miles since being put back together. It wasnt too bad a job in the end and happy to say i was pleased with my efforts. With the front metal work removed access was good. I think i may have been lucky with what damage had been done.
The cam carrier hadnt been damaged, neither had the valves, so with new carrier bolts, new tensioner, chain and guides i put it all back together. Also managed to save the cam cover but can see why a lot of people break them when taking them off as the sealant holding them on certainly does its job.
With fair bit of turning over and cracking the injector pipes finally got diesel up, and then it fired up and sounded sooo much better than before!
When i get in chance i need to see which pulley is squeeling.
So a big thanks to those who advised me, and the total cost was probably about £250-£300 so not too upset about that.
Well done, Glad it didn't end up being a horror story.
Its no good in the garage, Drive it!
