    Auto electrical advise needed

I need some way of getting a stand alone 2 watt bulb to illuminate for approximately 10 seconds when it is switched live by the ignition then go out, and not come on again until the next time it is switched live again. What type of relay or other means can I use?

I think you could use this timer chip NE555N Timer : Timers : Maplin it should be OK with a 12V supply and the "falling voltage reset" facility should work when you turn off the ignition. Use the chip output via a PCB mount relay for the 2W bulb.

I'm a bit confused on this, I want it to come on when ign turned on then go out and stay out, and stay out until the next time the car is used again with the same result. What I am going to use it for is where the drivers air bag is removed and an after market steering wheel is used (no air bag)and the light will work as if the air bag is fitted, and the bulb holder is isolated from the air bag circuit (stand alone) The car has only a drivers air bag so no seat sensors

...............I think the Ford Scorpios had a seat belt warning lamp that was controlled by a stand alone relay.........the warning lamp stayed on for 10/15 seconds...........possibly a route to go down..............

if its for the mot just take the bulb out. the airbag light being on all the time is not an mot failure so removing the bulb is not an issue.

As far as I was aware it is now ,and yes it does stay off till the next time you turn the ignition on,well mine does. And there must be a kit somewhere for what you want to do.

This is not a simple fix, have just done some googling ,and the seat come's into play as there is a trigger sensor to tell when someone is in the seat.Check some forums as people are wanting to fit aftermarket seats for track days.
