    Body filler

I have had some disappopinting results with body filler. I lost my rented workshop last year and did the filling round the roof fill and then had to paint in a hurry - cellulose. The filler had a couple of coats of etch primer as there was bare steel either side and then grey primer and finally I went in with the cellulose top coat. After a while I could see a line where the filler butted the steel roof filler and its getting worse. it looks like the filler is shrinking back. I havent noticed this happening elsewhere. Its just ordinary filler not metallic that I have seen advertised. Any ideas. I'm not wroried about removing the filler and doing it again as it was a hurry up just to get something on it berfore the damp and cold got to it.

Cellulose doesn't cover very well unfortunatley, most modern fillers are pretty good & as long as it's applied on bare steel & not left out to get wet etc, you're aiming to get into etch / high build primer asap.
Easy no1 is good, also use a decent finishing putty like top stop gold to finish it off.
    Cheers

Thanks for the comments - Looks like I might get a result if I open up the sink line and use either Fantastic or Stop Gold to repair or alternatively get most of the original fill off and start again. The fillers not very deep and I recall it was soft stuff and all too easy to sand down too much and yes plenty pin holes - I shouldv stopped there and got some better stuff - lesson learned (again).

I always finish off with Either Starchem or Dolphin Glaze finishing filler/putty. Goes on very smooth and easy to sand.

Upol fantastic everyday for me. But you could really do with a couple of coats of upol re-face spray filler
Block sand with 150/240 then high build primer. That's my cocktail and its never let me down.
