    bw65 gearbox leaking through beather

looked at a car today with a bw65 box, works perfect through all the gears but when you switch it off it poors about 1\4 a litre of atf out through the breather pipe? ive checked the level and that is fine.

How are you checking the level, and how high does the breather pipe loop up to?

you need to check it warm but in park.the difference between high and low on the dip stick is approx 1 pint.oh yes forgot ,check with engine running and if you do top it up add oil then run through the gears from p down through the box then back up into park and then recheck.

It should run upwards to about the height of the top of the dipstick tube and then back downwards finishing up somewhere around the gearbox casing/tailshaft housing joint, so I'd suggest extending yours so it's similar to that before getting too worried.
